What kind of mushroom will you create?

Inspired by the incredible variety of shapes, colors, and forms found in the fungi kingdom, the Mushroom Sensory Mix invites children to become mushroom makers. A collection of hand-painted pasta pieces becomes stems, caps, shelves, cups, and other mushroom-inspired forms, ready to be sorted, matched, stacked, and combined into wonderfully unusual fungi.

Search through soft pinks, creams, yellows, blues, browns, and woodland neutrals to find the perfect pieces, then experiment: Which cap fits this stem? Can you build a tall mushroom? A tiny one? A shelf fungus? Something completely imaginary? There’s no single “right” mushroom to make. Children can notice patterns found in real fungi while also using those discoveries as a jumping-off point for creativity.
